In the heart of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, amidst a vibrant art scene, resides a visionary artist and designer, Narges Panahandeh. A multifaceted creative mind with a passion for visual storytelling and social impact, Narges is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design at ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ. As she eagerly awaits her graduation in May 2024, spends her time as an active member of the and holds a teaching assistant position in a graphic design course at the undergraduate level at ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ.

Originally from Iran, Narges brings a rich tapestry of cultural influences to her work. Raised in a multicultural environment, she learned to appreciate diversity from a young age and finds inspiration in Iranian’s history and culture. From patterns and motifs in architecture to calligraphy, book design, painting, and carpet weaving, many designs and symbols of Iranian folklore can be seen in her work.

"Living in a place with many cultures made me curious about different ways of thinking," Narges said. "My time in Iran taught me to value other cultures a lot, and it's a big part of my creative journey."

Narges's academic path has been steadfast, culminating in her pursuit of an MFA in Graphic Design at ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. Drawing from her bachelor's degree in visual communication from the University of Art, Tehran, she focuses on addressing social issues through innovative approaches and new technologies. Her goal us to create awareness and positive societal impact while actively contributing to cultural diversity through design.

Narges chose Florida Atlantic for her education because of the vibrant art scene in South Florida. With art exhibitions, shows, and events frequently happening around the area, she knew this creative environment is where she could showcase her own artwork. While studying at ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ, Narges finds herself immersed in an environment that nurtures creativity and collaboration. She credits ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters for fostering an atmosphere conducive to growth and exploration, allowing her to thrive both academically and artistically.

"The program's emphasis on experimentation and pushing creative boundaries fits perfectly with my passion for innovative design," she said.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Narges indulges in illustration as a hobby, experimenting with different styles and techniques. Currently, she's channeling her creativity into her thesis, exploring immersive experiences in American and Iranian visual culture.

"I find inspiration in everyday life," she explains. "Whether I'm taking a walk while listening to audiobooks and podcasts or exploring the city, inspiration is all around me."

Looking ahead, Narges envisions a future where she continues to merge her passion for design with her commitment to education and cross-cultural understanding.

"After completing my studies, I aim to apply the knowledge and skills acquired from both professional and academic experiences," she reveals. "As a lifelong learner engaged in cross-cultural design research, I aspire to contribute to the academic world by becoming an educator."
