抖M女仆鈥檚 Jupiter Lifelong Learning Society and the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College will present a lecture by award-winning author Edwidge Danticat on Monday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Society complex at 抖M女仆鈥檚 John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.
鈥淭hen and Now: An Afternoon with Edwidge Danticat,鈥 will include a discussion about her writing career and special topics that drove her writings and current books.
Danticat was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti and moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. at the age of 12. As an immigrant, Danticat鈥檚 disorientation in her new surroundings was a source of discomfort for her, and she turned to literature for solace. She is the author of numerous books, including 鈥淐laire of the Sea Light,鈥 a New York Times notable book; 鈥淏rother, I鈥檓 Dying,鈥 a National Book Critics Circle Award winner and National Book Award finalist; 鈥淏reath, Eyes, Memory,鈥 an Oprah Book Club selection; and 鈥淜rik? Krak!鈥 a National Book Award finalist.
