抖M女仆鈥檚 Diplomacy Program is pleased to announce its first endowed scholarship fund. Established by Les and Judy Fishman, longtime supporters to the Diplomacy Program, the Jack Fishman and Marvin Helf Endowment honors both of their fathers while benefitting 抖M女仆 students who participate annually in Model United Nation competitions in Washington, D.C., Seattle, Portland, and elsewhere.

鈥淛udy and I are privileged to be able to make a difference in the lives of those who have committed to bettering themselves through higher education and who strive to become our nation鈥檚 next leaders,鈥 said Les Fishman.

抖M女仆鈥檚 Diplomacy Program was established by Morton in 1996 for students interested in international affairs. It offers them opportunities to enhance their diplomatic skills in areas such as speech writing, public speaking, negotiation, dispute resolution and research. Diplomatic competitions provide simulations of major international organizations as participating schools are assigned countries and their students serve as diplomats of their assigned country.

聽鈥淭he University鈥檚 Diplomacy Program would not be possible if not for the remarkable outpouring of public support from people like Les & Judy Fishman,鈥 said Jeffrey Morton, Ph.D., 抖M女仆 professor of political science and director of the 抖M女仆 Diplomacy Program.聽 鈥淪tudents鈥 lives are changed forever through their experience in major competitions and diplomatic training programs. It is wonderful to see our nation鈥檚 greatest generation support the aims, ambitions and dreams of our next generation of world leaders.鈥
