, associate professor in 抖M女仆鈥檚 within the , is a guest curator for an exhibition at in New York titled, Organized by Kuli膰, as well as Martino Stierli, the Philip Johnson chief curator of architecture and design at The Museum of Modern Art; and Anna Kats, curatorial assistant in the Department of Architecture and Design at The Museum of Modern Art, the exhibit will be on view from July 15 through Jan. 13, 2019.

The exhibition is pivotal in two ways,鈥 said聽Kuli膰.鈥淔irst, it intervenes in the canonical history of modern architecture by demonstrating that highly innovative achievements were not limited to the Western world. In that sense, the exhibition exposes the U.S. audience to a little known alternative modernity with its own architectural masterpieces."

鈥淪econd, the show also draws attention to architecture鈥檚 social responsibility and its potential to shape public space and collective memory 鈥 questions that are highly relevant in today鈥檚 political climate.鈥

It is the first major U.S. exhibition to study the remarkable body of work that sparked international interest during the 45 years of the country鈥檚 existence. 鈥淭oward a Concrete Utopia鈥 will include more than 400 drawings, models, photographs, and film reels culled from an array of municipal archives, family-held collections, and museums across the region, introducing the exceptional built work of socialist Yugoslavia鈥檚 leading architects to an international audience for the first time.

Kuli膰 joined 抖M女仆 in 2008 and teaches courses in architectural history, theory and design. He specializes in architecture after World War II, modernism in Central and Eastern Europe, the global exchanges of architectural culture, and contemporary criticism.
