Accreditation Assessment Invites Public to Comment
A team of Assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will arrive on Sunday, April 29, to examine all aspects of the (抖M女仆PD) policy and procedures, management, operation, and support services, announced today.
Verification by the team that 抖M女仆PD meets IACLEA鈥檚 state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation 鈥 a highly prized recognition of campus public safety professional excellence, Brammer said.
University members, agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling 561-297-2156 on Monday, April 30 between 1 and 3 p.m.聽 Comments will be taken by the assessment team.
Telephone comments must address the department鈥檚 ability to comply with IACLEA鈥檚 standards.聽 The IACLEA Accreditation Standards Manual is available on the IACLEA website at www.iaclea.org.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the 抖M女仆PD鈥檚 ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to IACLEA Accreditation, 1110 Bonifant St., Suite 220, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
The 抖M女仆PD has to comply with 215 standards, in order to achieve accredited status, Brammer said.聽
鈥淎n accreditation will bring standardization and professionalism to our process as we seek to support the mission and vision of 抖M女仆,鈥 he said. 鈥淎ccreditation is a vital key to the success of our duty to keep our students, faculty, staff, and visitors鈥 safe while on our campus.鈥
The accreditation manager for the 抖M女仆PD is Lt. Mary Douglas.聽 She said the assessment team is composed of experienced campus law enforcement professionals from Florida and Rhode Island. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and inspect facilities where compliance can be witnessed.聽 The assessors are Chief Linda Stump-Kurnick, team leader; and Lt. Bruce Holt.聽 Once the assessors complete their review of the department, they will report back to IACLEA, which will then decide if the department is to be granted accredited status, Douglas said.
Accreditation is for four years, during which the department must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
