抖M女仆 Diplomacy Program Places Second Overall at Model U.N.

The at 抖M女仆 recently competed in the National Model United Nations competition in Washington, D.C. and received four individual and six delegation awards, and finished second overall out of 67 competing universities. A total of 59 抖M女仆 undergraduate students joined more than 1,000 students in the annual competition where schools represent countries and students step into the shoes of diplomats to solve global problems.

鈥淧lacing second overall at nationals again this year is a significant accomplishment for our program and a testament to the hard work of our students,鈥 said Jeffery Morton, Ph.D., professor of political science in 抖M女仆鈥檚 Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.听聽

The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program, which trains students in world affairs, dispute resolution and debate, was established in 1996 and is a unit of the . To date, the program has won 25 national and international awards for academic excellence. In 2017, the program was named to honor the diplomatic legacy of Leon Charney, who played a key role in the 1978 Camp David Accords.
