抖M女仆 Receives National Science Foundation I-Corps Grant

抖M女仆 recently received the National Science Foundation (NSF) Innovation Corps (I-Corps) grant to create an NSF I-Corps Site at 抖M女仆 as a component of 抖M女仆 Tech Runway庐. The grant was awarded by the National Science Foundation and was presented by U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch during a visit to 抖M女仆 Tech Runway庐at 抖M女仆鈥檚 Boca Raton campus.聽

鈥湺禡女仆 is excited to receive the NSF I-Corps grant,鈥 said Daniel Flynn, Ph.D., vice president for research at 抖M女仆. 鈥淭his grant will help to promote STEM entrepreneurship among 抖M女仆鈥檚 diverse student population and further our efforts as a key contributor to South Florida鈥檚 innovation ecosystem.鈥

The NSF I-Corps program prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the university laboratory and accelerates the economic and societal benefits of NSF-funded, basic-research projects that are ready to move toward commercialization.

鈥淚鈥檓 always so amazed and inspired by my visits to聽抖M女仆 Tech Runway,鈥 said Deutch. 鈥淪tudents聽and entrepreneurs聽are helping to drive innovation with local companies and pushing the boundaries of our technological capabilities. This advanced work with聽抖M女仆聽Tech Runway will prepare these聽innovators聽for successful careers in the STEM fields.鈥

The grant is worth $254,997 over three years and will serve to advance entrepreneurship and innovation efforts currently taking place at 抖M女仆 Tech Runway庐. Specifically, the grant will create at I-Corps site to support and equip multiple southeast Florida teams to accelerate viable STEM research innovations from the laboratory to the marketplace.聽

鈥淐reating an NSF I-Corps site at 抖M女仆 will increase and retain the number of newly formed innovative companies capable of accelerating innovations to the market and attracting investors and industry partners to the region,鈥 said Ken Dawson-Scully, Ph.D., associate vice president for strategic initiatives at 抖M女仆 and head of institutional partnerships for 抖M女仆 and Max Planck Florida Institute. 鈥淭he ultimate outcome of this NSF grant directly aligns with 抖M女仆鈥檚 strategic goal to cultivate and strengthen the region鈥檚 innovation ecosystem.鈥澛犅犅
